Movie Review:

The movie starts with a village where people are still living an old lifestyle. The people who live in this village never visited the city. Also going out of the village is prohibited. But they start experiencing some monster attack in the village. These monsters come in the night and start killing animals. Then the movie shows a love story between a blind girl Bryce Dallas Howard as Ivy Elizabeth Walker and a courages man Joaquin Phoenix as Lucius Hunt. Lucius is very curious to go out of the village for help and a better future for the village. Lucius and Ivy's love reaches a place where they decide to get married. But due to jealousy Adrien Brody as Noah Percy stab Lucius. Now Lucius gets a serious injury which leads to hard to save him because villagers do not have enough medicine resources. Then Ivy decides to out of the village to get some medicines. In this duration, the movie discloses the secret behind monsters. The old people from the village are played monster roles so they can create fear and prohibit others to go out of the village. The reason behind this older people mentality of the city is because they experienced city life in their teenage period. They saw city people are addicted to drugs, doing crimes, and nobody help each other so they decided to create a village where people can live happily. But Lucius's injury makes a big revolution and Ivy's father tells the reality behind the village monsters. Also, he requests her to hide this secret and not disclose the village to the city people. Then Ivy goes on a journey toward the city to get medicines. The movie is did marketing like this is a horror film but actually it was suspense movie. If you watch the movie trailer and you are a fan of horror movies. Then this movie surely disappoints you because it does not stand on the promises. M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water (2006) did the same thing where the movie promoted like a horror movie but it was a fantasy film.

I love M. Night Shyamalan's writing/direction from his movies The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000), The Last Airbender (2010), The Visit (2015), and Split (2017). This movie also not disappointed me, the cinematography is very beautiful. The story is unique and the reasons behind all facts are believable. As older people in real life definitely think the city is not a good place to live. The twists are unexpected and surprising. I think the place where the monsters are shown making noises that are somewhere unbelievable. Because humans are not able to create that type of noise. The costume and location are beautifully made and look very realistic. The emotional touch gave nicely in the movie, where love between characters is heart touching. Love of sisters is nicely shown. When Ivy meets a person in the city and that person helps Ivy that scene surely makes you emotionol. In the starting - movie, shows like Joaquin Phoenix will be the lead character in the story but Bryce Dallas Howard as Ivy played the main character. All actors played their characters very well. Overall I believe if you are a suspense/thrill movie lover then you must watch this movie.
