Movie Review:

The movie starts with an explanation of one parallel space where animals are called demons. These animals are connected with their owners. Also, these animals can talk. Now story shows Dakota Blue Richards as Lyra Belacqua is doing studies in one university. This university has many secrets. There are many compasses is made to follow the dust and connect to another parallel world like earth. But university thinks dust is evil and if they connect with another world then university power and rule will be over. So they destroy all the compass but somehow one compass remains that is Golden Compass. Now the university tries to separate children from demons so they will not grow and will not become adult bad people. So they will remain innocent forever. But this experiment hurt children and reached to the kidnapping of children. Lyra gets Golden Compass from one person and she starts a journey of saving children. Only Lyra able to read this Golden Compass because she is special. The movie has good graphics and VFX. The movie has a unique story like Harry Potter and Lord of Rings. But this movie not able to impress is much because it just rushes to move the story. It ends up in just 113 minutes which is really less for epic movies. The movie has not many twists and turns. The characters are not properly presented you barely able to connect with the characters. If you read the book "Northern Lights" on which the movie is based, you will notice unnecessary changes are made in the story. Also unlike the book story movie just rush things and end up like "That's it?". The movie has big and talented actors who did a fabulous job. Especially Dakota Blue Richards in the role of Lyra Belacqua she acted very well. If you compare this movie with fantasy movies Harry Potter and Lord of Rings then surely it will disappoint you. The movie surely needed more twists and turns, also a better representation of the story. Overall I believe one time watchable, good graphics will surely not disappoint you much.

Positive points of the movie:

Good VFX-graphics and good acting.

Negative points of the movie:

Bad representation of the story, no much twist - turns, and rush in completing the movie.

Overall My Rating:

I am giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars:)

3.5/5
