Story: The series story revolves around two friends Wei Wuxian - Lan Wangji, and their journey of love, adventure, and mystery.

The series starts with an ancient time in the Yunmeng Jiang kingdom Xiao Zhan as Wei Wuxian who living with his sister Xuan Lu as Jiang Yanli and his brother Wang Zhuocheng as Jiang Cheng. Now Jiang Cheng is a real son of the king but Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli are adopted, children. After the king's friend's death, he adopts both the kids. But the queen is unhappy with this adoption because she think Wei Wuxian is better than Jiang Cheng and in the future, Wei Wuxian will try to become the next king. So the queen always tries to insult Wei Wuxian and never accepted him as a son. But on another side, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Yanli, and Jiang Cheng live happily like brothers and sister. Wei Wuxian's character shown as a courageous and joyful person. Where Jiang Cheng's character is more strict. Jiang Yanli is a caring and loving sister who loves her brothers. The series shows a beautiful bonding of brothers and sister. The love and bonding of these three characters will touch your heart.
Then three of them go for study-training to Lan kingdom. In Lan kingdom, Wei Wuxian meets Wang Yibo as Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji is a strict and simple character who follows rules strictly. Wei Wuxian tries to irritate Lan Wangji for fun. Slowly this irritation turns into a good friendship. In the period of this training, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji become good friends. The friendship between them more looks like same-gender love. Like in some point music played in the background and Wei Wuxian - Lan Wangji showed on the screen. It looks like they are trying to show the same gender love but the series till the end justifies this bonding as friendship.
In Lan kingdom, Jiang Yanli meets Cao Yuchen as Jin Zixuan. Jin Zixuan is the son of Lanling Jin kingdom king. Both Yunmeng Jiang kingdom and Lanling Jin kingdom kings are already promised marriage between Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan. Jin Zixuan's character is shown as strict and shy. Jiang Yanli starts liking Jin Zixuan, but Jin Zixuan tries to avoid her. Then later Jin Zixuan rejects to marriage with Jiang Yanli by which Wei Wuxian gets angry with Jin Zixuan. But soon Jin Zixuan starts loving Jiang Yanli. Later he agrees to marry Jiang Yanli. Then somehow both kingdom is convinced marriage between them.
But in these happy times, Qishan Wen kingdom starts killing people and tries to control all other kingdoms. Soon all kingdom tries to fight with Qishan Wen kingdom. But Qishan Wen kingdom king Xiu Qing as Wen Ruohan takes the help of magical stone which gives him the power of making dead soldiers. By these powers, Wen Ruohan defends all the kingdoms. Wen Ruohan's sons Wen Chao and Wen Xu help him to do this. Soon Qishan Wen kingdom attacks Yunmeng Jiang kingdom and kills the queen and king. Now Wei Wuxian - Lan Wangji and other kingdom try to defeat Qishan Wen kingdom. This story soon reaches some unexpected turns. Soon Wei Wuxian blamed for some bad things which he was not done. The series shows how bad politics is used for getting the position of king. Series shows still in the bad situation Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian friendship not broken and they helped each other.
The Series has a unique and interesting story. You surely get confused in some parts but series give answers to all questions. All the actors did great acting. The background location and costumes look beautiful. The series has lovely music. The beautiful bonding of friendship and love is shown in the series. The emotions shown in the series make us connect with the characters. The series gets boring after 30 episodes and starts moving slowly. But till the ending series again get interesting. The series ends with a proper conclusion and all questions answered. Overall I think you must watch this series.
